Easy peasy recipes that are a family winner

Meat was always used to accompany vegetables traditionally - and it's a tradition we love. Who can resist a slice or three of roast beef, soaked in rich gravy, with roast potatoes, carrots, peas, etc perched alongside crispy Yorkshire puddings?

It's why carveries hold enduring appeal. We also supply meat to many of these locally too, you may or may not know.

What do you choose when you visit a carvery? Beef, turkey, pork or gammon? There's no right answer by the way!

Traditional meals like meat and five veg can prove costly to purchase and prepare so we thought this week we'd offer a few recipes for you to try. There's only one condition - in return you create an order from us which we deliver across East Anglia! Check out our shop and offers here.

Here's our top 2 meaty meals for you to try this week:

  1. Quick Steak Grill

For this you need:

A large potato with the skin left on

3 tablespoons of olive oil

2 large flat cap mushrooms with the stalks snapped off

2 large tomatoes

2 of our finest Sirloin Steaks

A quarter of a beef stock cube

Some salad leaves (optional)

  • Heat your cooker grill to high. Thickly slice the potato (don't peel it), 1 cm will work well, then lay slices on a large non-stick baking tray and brush with oil. Grill for 10 mins until browned. Flip over the potatoes, add the mushrooms and tomatoes to the tray and brush with oil, then return everything to the grill for another 10 mins until cooked.

  • Heat the remaining oil in a frying pan. Season the steaks with sale and pepper , then sear for 1 min on each side for rare, 1½ mins for medium or 2½ mins for well done. Remove and leave to rest. Add a splash of water to the pan, crumble in the stock cube, then boil to make a thin gravy, adding any steak juices from the plate. Serve the steaks with the veg, a handful of salad leaves and the gravy.

The recommended weight of each steak is just 5 oz, so it is possible for a pack of ours to serve four if halved or 2 if you're hungry! These steaks cost £11.99 from us for a 20 oz pack.

Place the chicken breasts between two pieces of cling film and bash with a rolling pin or pan to about 1cm thick. Quite satisfying to do too!

Heat a griddle pan over a high heat. Once hot, cook the chicken for 3 mins each side until cooked through, adding the sliced cheese for the final 2 mins of cooking. Add the bun, cut-side down, to the griddle pan to toast lightly. Season the chicken and serve with fries, wedges and dips.

A sure fire winner for everyone.

We sell these two, pre-stuffed, for £3.49 for two or if you want to add your own filling, we sell a 5kg pack for just £24.99
